Meet Jack…

Bloggers meet an incredibly precious baby boy, Jack Kauflin

I have never met Jack, however I feel like I know him… and I definitely know that I love him!

Jack’s family is a very close and personal family friend of my studio manager, Liz Connolly.  She learned of little Jack’s leukemia diagnosis three days after her wedding – and she has been sharing his journey with me lately.  Since becoming a mother, my heart is much more sensitive – especially when it involves a sick child.  While it reminds me of just how blessed my family is to have our health, I am also reminded of how life can change in an instant.  One minute you have a vibrant, healthy little boy (and thinking his sickness is no more than a common cold), and then the next minute you hear, “I’m sorry, your son has leukemia.”

I can’t help but wonder how I would personally take this kind of news.  Would I drop to my knees throwing my fists up at God asking, “Why?!”  Would I fall into a deep depression and simply not know how to function?  Or would I act as that mom…that mom who has the strength of a Gladiator?  That mom whom no one person can break?  That mom who will place it all in His hands and know that whatever the outcome is…it was always what He had planned?  I pray that I would be Tali…that mom.  Jack’s mom.

Yesterday, Liz brought it to my attention that Jack’s parents are requesting hats!  hats!  hats!!  You have to read this blog post – it is AMAZING!!!

My husband is donating one of his big league hats (oh, and all of my ball player wifey friends…I’m comin’ after ya!!).  Will you please help us celebrate this little boy’s life?  In spirit and honor of his family’s courage, strength and faithfulness to God?

I would love to send this package to him within the next week, so if you have a favorite hat or a hat that you think will look oh-too-cute on Jack, please send to our studio address:

703 McNinch Street, Charlotte, NC 28208.

Thank you SO much for taking the time to discover this precious angel, and for praying that the Lord completely heals his little body!  xoxo~ K

The hats that have been collected so far…

Bless his little heart.  He was placed on steroids which in turn had him desiring boxes of mac-n-cheese in one sitting.

The spirit of a child leaves me breathless…

Bob Kauflin - Kristin,

As Jack’s “pop-pop” I just wanted you to know how touched I was that you posted this. God has been so very kind to our family during this season, and you’re one more evidence of His care.

BTW, loved the pictures of Liz and Michael’s wedding. You captured the day perfectly.

melia peterson - Kristin,

I am Vickie Vining’s sister. Travis’s wife. An inspiring story for little Jack’s parents. I grew up with a boy and best friend named David. He too at age 3 was diagnosed with Leukemia. He is now 36 years old. Long battle but a survivor. It can be done and God watches over these Angels!!!! He’s an amazing person and a true inspiration!!! Hope all goes well for that sweet little boy!! Will be praying for him and his family!!!!April 7, 2010 – 7:15 pm

Kaitlyn - I used to go to school with jack, and I was wondering if you could maybe pass the message on and say that I miss him ,and I hope he liked my card, and I pray that won’t happen again. I remember once at school he was scrolling through the picture of him online, and he saw this. He showed it to us, and felt really bad.January 14, 2020 – 2:23 pm
