Still here. Still shooting. Promise.

“Life’s journey…”

This is by no means a Tom Cruise, “Mission Statement” moment, but my husband and I have been doing a lot of reflecting on our next step in life.  Perhaps it is because we are just a couple years shy of yet another milestone; our forties!  Yikes!  Even so, we still seem to keep asking each other…

“What do we want to be when we grow up?”

For me, I feel remarkably blessed to have been called to photography.  Almost ten years in, I still get butterflies before each and every event.  My thought?  “The day I lose that feeling will be the day I look to move on.”

For my husband, his life has been centered in and around baseball.  Like many little boys, he fell in love with the game.  Day in and day out, it was baseball, baseball, baseball.  Little league, youth ball, high school ball, college ball (Go Clemson!)…all the way to 1996 when he was drafted by the San Fran. Giants.  The 1997 White Flag Trade sent him to Chicago, and in 2001 his dream came true.

He got “The Call!”

May 23, 2001 will always be remembered.  His first big league appearance.  And to be there with him, witnessing it all – well, it was the most exciting day of our lives until Bray and Addy entered our life in 2007.

He retired from playing the game in 2004.  Baseball was so good to us, but it was time.  The quality of life just wasn’t what he wanted any longer.  He was ready to be HOME.

So, we settled in Charlotte and he has been a pitching instructor ever since.

Until two weeks ago.

God is speaking.  We are listening.  We are excited.

I can’t reveal it just yet, because it is not quite ready, but SOON!  Very soon!

I can say this, “You’ll need a spoon!”

Okay, so…

THE REAL REASON FOR THIS MESSAGE?

I am still shooting.  KVP is busier than ever and the ONLY thing that is back-logged (approx. ten weddings) is sharing all of the lovely work with you.  Laying out imagery is like piecing together a puzzle.  It takes a tremendous amount of time to craft these posts.  Quite honestly, it is a job in itself.

What IS most important to us right now is ensuring that our clients receive their wedding the week following their big day, and that they have a proof of their storybook design within the week that they are home from their honeymoon.  Whew!  Partnering that work with prospective bride consults, mid-week engagement/bridal shoots, day-to-day business, A NEW BUSINESS (licensing, permits, accountants, website, branding, quality assurance, marketing, packaging, shipping, etc)….

OH – and being a good MOMMY!

A GOOD WIFE!

Enough said.

So for right now, we’ll blog slowly.

We’re still here.  Still shooting.  Still loving it.  Still stronger than ever.

Big things coming.
